I DO want to communicate with my physician electronically.
MORTON PLANT MEASE PRIMARY CARE, INC
WEBVIEW PATIENT PORTAL
"Rules of the Road"
As your physician, I feel strongly that effective and timely two way communication is critical to our physician / patient relationship.
For this reason, I've implemented the WebView Patient Portal in my office to enhance this communication by ensuring that you have timely access to key portions of your personal medical chart.
You will now be able to view most areas of your medical record including test results (Labwork results and Radiology) as they are received in our Electronic Medical Record and in some cases, even before they have been reviewed by me.
Caution: This level of access comes with responsibility for both of us
My Responsibility:
To review your results and communicate their meaning in a clear and timely manner
Your Responsibility:
To use this Portal only for its intended use
To Not react to raw data that you may see in your medical record that has not been explained to you directly by me or my office staff. Please remember that you may be seeing these results before I've had a chance to review them in detail.
To not assume that the lack of communication from me means your results were either normal or abnormal.
To not use the WebView Portal for urgent or emergency situations. In the event of an emergency, you should call emergency medical services or 911, or go directly to the emergency room.
To understand that it may take 48 hours to receive a response to an email request / message request. If you do NOT receive a response within 2 business days, you may contact the Office during normal business hours.
Here's why
Electronic Medical Records have established ranges of expected results programmed into their logic. Results outside of those ranges may be described in your medical record with medical terminology such as “ABNORMAL” or may appear in BOLD RED TEXT . This DOES NOT mean that there is a definite problem with your health. Results can regularly appear as "abnormal" or "out of range" for a particular test for very benign reasons. The color coding is used as a way to alert the physician to lab results that may need further testing where appropriate.
Your "expected" result ranges have been programmed into our system based on national approved evidence based research as a way to provide a prompt for me to focus closely on your personal results and order other testing where appropriate.
Please allow me the time to review your results and communicate as we’ve agreed. This communication may take place via phone call, letter, or face to face at your next scheduled appointment.
If you are extremely anxious regarding a test result that you have seen and you have not been contacted by me or my office after seven (7) days from the time the labs were published and do not have an upcoming appointment scheduled, please send me a message via WebView or call the office and we will address your concern in a timely manner.
The results of most tests that I order (Labs / Basic Imaging Studies) are received back within days of the test but can take longer. This timing is out of my control. Some test results can take weeks before they are transmitted to my office and not all results from a single days tests are received back at the same time. We are committed to get you results as quickly as possible.
